Google AI Mode Now Lets You Search with Images Using Lens
What’s New in Google AI Mode?
Google has rolled out a new update to AI Mode that simplifies and intensifies searching. Now, using the latest feature, you can upload a photo or image from your device to search for something. Previously, AI Mode used to support text-based searches only, but now, it also supports text and images – a functionality called multimodal search.
How Does It Work?
This new feature operates via Google Lens, an app that allows you to search visually with your camera or photos. Google has paired the strength of Lens with Gemini, its powerful AI model, to deliver more detailed and useful answers. So now, when you snap a photo or upload one, you can ask questions about it – and the AI will provide a full answer, plus helpful links for more information.
Official Statement from Google
Google explained the new feature by saying,
“With AI Mode’s new multimodal understanding, you can snap a photo or upload an image, ask a question about it and get a rich, comprehensive response with links to dive deeper.”
This shows how Google is working to make search more interactive and helpful by combining visual and text understanding.
Google clarified, “With AI Mode’s multimodal understanding in its new incarnation, you can take a picture or upload an image, query about it and receive a deep, detailed response with links to explore further.” The feature update is no longer limited to paid users.
Now Available to More Users
Google began rolling out AI Mode to everyone. Now, they are rolling it out to millions of new users in the U.S., especially those using Google Labs. Robby Stein from Google said, “We’ve now started to make AI Mode available to millions more Labs users in the U.S.”
This action demonstrates how Google is attempting to make its search tools smarter and more helpful by merging images and AI. As AI technology develops, tools such as this will enable users to receive answers quicker and more accurately, simply by using an image.
