Google Launches ‘What’s Happening’ Feature for Business Profiles

For its Business Profiles—more especially, for restaurants and bars—Google has added a new feature called “What’s Happening”. This function lets these businesses prominently show frequent updates—daily deals, live events, or limited-time promotions—directly at the top of their Google Business Profile in search results.

Companies can manually enter these changes via Google Posts or automatically by connecting their profiles with Facebook, Instagram, or X—formerly Twitter. This integration guarantees that, while looking for nearby restaurants, consumers view the most recent offerings.

Currently rolling out single-location food and beverage companies in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand (on mobile), the “What’s Happening” feature is. This technology seeks to boost customer involvement and foot traffic by stressing real-time events and discounts, therefore enabling possible customers to find what’s fresh and interesting at their preferred local businesses.
