Google Search Tweaks Interface, Shifts ‘About Results’ to Tools Menu

Google is trying out a small change to its search page by moving the ‘About Results’ count into the Tools menu. Some users noticed this and talked about it in SEO forums. It looks like Google is doing this to keep the search page simple and less crowded.

Before, the ‘About Results’ info — which explains why certain results show up — was easy to see near the top of the search page, usually next to filters or the number of results. Now, in this test, it’s been moved into the Tools menu, so users have to click once more to find it.

The change isn’t yet widely rolled out, suggesting it’s part of a limited A/B test. Google frequently runs such tests to evaluate user behavior and interface efficiency before making broader updates. Even though the change is small, it might affect how clearly users understand search results and how they interact with them.

As of now, Google hasn’t made any official statement regarding this test or whether the change will become permanent.
